INTRODUCTION
This Viewing Guide accompanies the video Welcome to the Web and is designed to assist teachers, working either independently or with a facilitator, who are moving towards integrating the World Wide Web into their personal and professional lives.
The producers extend their thanks to all the interviewees, teachers and advisors who contributed to the making of this resource. Their professionalism, patience and hard work are sincerely appreciated, and the producers acknowledge that without the willingness of the participants to share their knowledge and experiences, this resource would not have been possible.
ABOUT THE VIDEO
In this video, presenter Dougal Stevenson introduces some of the functions and features of the World Wide Web. As well, teachers and principals from a range of New Zealand schools offer their insights into how they got started, and into how they are integrating the use of the Internet into their teaching programmes and daily lives.
THE VIEWING GUIDE
These notes are designed to summarise, in print form, the main points covered in the video. It provides a starting point for considering how teachers' own use of the World Wide Web might be extended and enhanced.
Discussion points, activities and reflection questions are offered as suggestions only. They are designed to encourage teachers to examine their own situation, as well as related issues of access and availability of expertise, and to develop for themselves their own plan of action.
This video has been developed for viewing in sections. It is recommended that hands-on practice take place between viewings.
